Common Questions From Our Customers

Getting Started

What exactly are sublimation tumblers?

They’re drinkware items coated with a special polymer that allows your artwork to permanently bond into the surface through heat. Once pressed, the design becomes part of the coating rather than sitting on top.

Which tumblers are best for beginners?

Straight-sided tumblers are the easiest to work with because they fit consistently in presses and ovens. A 20oz straight skinny is usually where most beginners start.

What equipment do I need?

You’ll need a sublimation printer, suitable paper, heat tape, and either a tumbler press or convection oven. Shrink sleeves are recommended if you’re using an oven, as they help guarantee even pressure.

Pressing & Techniques

Can I use a tumbler press or does it have to be an oven?

Either is fine. A press is faster and more predictable, while a convection oven allows you to sublimate several tumblers at once. The key is maintaining full contact between the print and the surface.

What time and temperature should I use?

Most stainless-steel tumblers press well at around 180–200°C for 3-4 minutes in a press, or about 180°C for 8-10 minutes when using an oven with shrink sleeves. Always test one first as equipment varies.

Troubleshooting Your Results

Why am I getting light patches or faded areas?

It usually comes down to uneven pressure. Check your taping, remove any air gaps, and make sure shrink sleeves are tight if you’re using an oven.

Why are my colours coming out lighter than expected?

Double-check your ICC profile, quality of paper, and whether your temperature is consistent. Even a small gap between the print and the tumbler can mute colours.

Why do I have a white line where the artwork meets?

Your wrap may not be overlapping slightly at the seam. Designs need a small overlap to ensure a clean join.

Choosing the Right Tumbler

What’s the difference between straight and tapered tumblers?

Straight tumblers have one consistent diameter, which makes them ideal for full wraps and beginners. Tapered tumblers are stylish but require more accurate taping and design alignment.

Are these suitable for full wraps?

Yes — especially straight tumblers. As long as the wrap is tight, you can achieve a seamless full-wrap design.

Care, Use & Inclusions

Are sublimation tumblers dishwasher safe?

We recommend hand-washing to preserve the finish and the vacuum insulation. The print itself won’t peel, but high heat cycles can affect coatings over time.

Do your tumblers include lids and straws?

Most of them do, and each product page clearly states what’s included.

Are they food-safe?

Yes. All our tumblers are BPA-free and suitable for hot and cold drinks.
